Jewish Neighborhood Development Council is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Executive Director
Mission: Initiate and implement programs and projects to improve the neighborhood, which currently include the following JNDCC initiatives (as of 12/21/18)
Park 538 (natural area being created along northshore channel of Chicago River), is in second stage of construction; liaison with governmental entities who will assure completion including naming, interpretive environmental signage, access points, programming
Bringing art to public spaces in WRP
Neighborhood advocacy to promote occupancy/improvement of the retail spaces on Touhy west of California and on Devon
Attract more home-based businesses to commercial spaces
Promote and facilitate development of kosher food court through pop-up presence or other models
Facilitate community input in renovation of Horwich Jewish Community Center
Join with WR Chamber to market the neighborhood, and assure the implementation of a technological incubator/shared space location
Staff Board of Trustees
Perform management functions
Serve as liaison with government and community organizations
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; 3 years experience in a non-profit organization; self-starter; passion for neighborhood development; exceptional people skills; understanding of Jewish community; connection with WRP and/or nearby neighborhoods; a desire to network/outreach to individuals and organizations within and beyond the Jewish community; good communicator; sets a priority for follow-up and follow-through; comfortable working with volunteers.
Salary Range: Commensurate based on experience.
