A very busy month in West Rogers Park

It's hard to believe that we are already at the end of 2017! We wanted to make sure you are aware of several upcoming events:

Firstly,  the preview screening of "Driving West Rogers Park: Chicago’s Once and Future Jewish Neighborhood” will take place Sunday, December 3  at the 40th anniversary event of the Chicago Jewish Historical Society, which will begin at 2 p.m. at Congregation Adas Yeshurun, 3050 W. Touhy.  Produced by award-winning filmmaker and JCCWRP board member Beverly Siegel, the video chronicles the sweeping transformations of the neighborhood since the founding of West Rogers Park's first synagogue in 1938, through the neighborhood’s emergence some 50 years later as the epicenter of Chicago’s Orthodox community.  Besides colorful glimpses of the area’s Jewish past, the video highlights recent successes aimed at improving and beautifying the community, spearheaded by JCCWRP.   Tickets  are $10 at the door, though free for members of Yeshurn and the Chicago Jewish Historical Society.  Refreshments are included.  You are encouraged to attend what promises to be an entertaining and educational program.

Also, save the date for an exciting "Chanukah Glow Bash" that we are co-sponsoring on Sunday, December 10. Kick off your family Chanukah celebrations with a community-wide event at the Bernard Horwich JCC. Glow games for children of all ages, Deconstructed Sufganyot bar, crafts, and so much more. You can register at

Finally, every year around this week, our emails start to be filled with "Black Friday" deals and promotions for the annual "Small Business Saturday" - just a reminder to visit and support our WRP business community. While we don't shop on Saturday, please make an effort to get to know the local merchants and support the businesses in your neighborhood. This is a great time to get some Chanukah gifts locally.
