JCCWRP at the White House

For the second year, it was an honor to represent the Jewish Community Council of West Rogers Park at the White House annual Chanukah reception as the guest of Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky. The Menorah of former Israeli President Shimon Peres was on display and President Obama shared some inspirational memories.
I view this invitation as both a huge compliment to our hard work as well as a tremendous opportunity to expand our reach and share ideas with like-minded communal professionals from around the country.
My day in DC was filled with other meetings that are relevant to our work of community building and economic development. I met with leadership at Housing and Urban Development on initiatives that can benefit West Rogers Park. While enjoying latkes, I met the Secretary of Treasury Jack Lew who shared his suggestions for entrepreneurial growth.
There have already been several follow-ups that have developed relating to our new library and senior housing in West Rogers Park. As always, we will send updates on these initiatives over the coming weeks.
Wishing you and your family a Happy Chanukah!
