More Policing and New Watch Program Announced for WRP

Last Friday, Alderman Debra Silverstein announced that the Chicago Police Department will be adding nine new police officers in the 50th Ward, five in the 24th District, which covers West Rogers Park, and four in the 17th District, which covers Peterson Park.
On Monday of this week, 24th District leadership announced that a new community watch program is being launched in our neighborhood.  The program will focus on an increased role for volunteers who will serve as visible partners in the community policing effort.
These welcome developments aimed at maintaining West Rogers Park as a safer, better place to live, reflect both aldermanic responsiveness and the effectiveness of community advocacy.
We all owe the Alderman an expression of gratitude for these efforts on behalf of our community.  I’ve expressed my appreciation, and I encourage you to do the same.  The email address for the 50th Ward is:
Support the Neighborhood Watch Program by keeping your eyes and ears open, and reporting any suspicious activity by calling 911.  It is better to be safe than sorry.
WRP is one of the safest neighborhoods in Chicago. Let's keep it that way.
