Earlier this month, I met with our executive director, Shalom Klein, to evaluate our accomplishments for 2016 and to establish goals for the coming year.
As we look forward to building upon our successes, we invite your participation in pursuit of our mission of neighborhood improvement. These are the action steps we’ve set for 2017:
Form advocacy groups to improve Devon and Touhy avenues
Recruit new businesses and upgrade the appearance and operations of existing businesses
Develop block clubs and other programming aimed at building our constituency
Promote housing opportunities
Build our board and committee structure
We have met with Alderman Silverstein who welcomed our goals for the coming year. She has agreed to meet with our Devon and Touhy advocacy groups and play a role in our community outreach meetings.
Nothing makes a greater difference than residents, business owners, organizations and institutions joining together with our elected officials to pursue common interests.
Further, we will also monitor the planned construction of the new park at Devon and McCormick and plans as they emerge for the new Chicago Public Library Branch at Western and Pratt.
Tell us how we can involve you during the coming calendar year. Together we can assure the well-being of our community for years to come.
