Meeting To Target Blight at Devon and McCormick,
Water Reclamation District-Controlled Site,
6 P.M. Tuesday, March 10 at Bnei Reuven
Neighborhood residents are urged to attend a community meeting aimed at bringing about an end to policies that have fostered decay and quashed re-development at Devon and McCormick.
Sponsored by JCCWRP, the meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 10 at Congregation Bnei Reuven, 6350 N. Whipple in Chicago.
For nearly a decade the intersection of Devon and McCormick has been marred by a derelict expanse of land controlled by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District.
The blighted and abandoned movie theatre, car wash and parking lot hurt our communities:
* by attracting criminal activity
* by obstructing commercial development
* by blocking community development
North of Devon and south of Peterson, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District has helped to enhance our neighboring communities with beautifications along the trail that runs from Green Bay Rd to Lawrence Ave.
We demand that the same responsibility be shown between Devon and Lincoln.
We need your attendance on March 10 in order to let the MWRD hear our collective voice!
Representatives of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District and members of the media have been invited to attend.
